Tinnitus

Tinnitus

Tinnitus is hearing noise on one or both ears that are not from the outside environment. The noise may be constant or come in bouts and may vary in intensity and character. Sounds can include ringing, clicking, sizzling, buzzing, hissing, humming or roaring.

The causes of Tinnitus are:

  • Old age
  • Irregular diet
  • Overwork
  • Emotional Stress
  • Exposure to loud sounds

In Chinese medicine below are the patterns for Tinnitus.
Kidney essence deficiency. Kidney opens at the ear in Chinese medicine. Kidney essence deficiency is the common reason for Tinnitus in the elderly people.

The symptoms are:

  • Tinnitus with gradual onset
  • Low pitch noise, sometimes like rushing water and coming in bouts
  • Poor memory
  • Blurred vision
  • Sore back and knees
  • Low sexual drive or performance

The treatment principle is to nourish the Kidney essence. Tonify Kidney Yang or nourish Kidney Yin. The main Acupuncture points used are: KD-3 Taixi, Ren-4 Guanyuan, BL-23 Shenshu as well as local points.
